"Incipience"
Even more than the silent end of the month I recognize the signs the ache in the breasts the sudden fatigue my hands feeling distant on the steering wheel we have waited so long for me to need that first appointment the sound of the heartbeat I give you the news you smile your usual effusive self your arms around me briefly now I sit unable to move my life so light so pliable so inconsequent ending beginning another an unknown gift a weight a dark and yawning courtyard a hero's journey a long slow binding another life beginning what life what life
